DakaDaka
NAMING, NARRATIVE, BRANDING & COLLATERAL
Modern Food Tales of Ancient Georgia
Walking through the door you hear chatter, laughter and hustle and bustle. You’ve reached DakaDaka, a modern-day ‘sasadilo’ – a Georgian dining room. Celebrating the rich heritage of Georgia and it’s undiscovered territories. Centred around Georgia’s ancient beginnings and rooted in simple values, the food focuses on authentic staple dishes and honest flavours of Georgian life.
The positioning, naming and brand narrative was established first. Derived from various meanings: hectic, fiery-passion and hustle & bustle, the name ‘DakaDaka’ is a local term which personifies chaotic conversations, busy streets, and the loud sounds and intimate chatter found within local Georgian dining rooms. The tagline ‘Modern Food Tales of Ancient Georgia’ was created to bring ancient storytelling and flavours to modern locations. From here, the full brand development was created: visual identity, menu design, marketing collateral, and the directional look & feel for signage, OS&E and uniforms. Bespoke mosaic patterns were created to reflect beautiful mosaic art found around the streets and tapestries of Georgia – reflecting a ‘mosaic of flavours’ which the culinary menu offers. Menus and brand collateral follow a very neat and simple format – bringing elegance and opulence to lively sharing dishes. Further development spanned into designing wine labels and ‘Chacha’ brandy labels for their in-house blends.
